Terms of Service

By creating an account or using Prompta, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Prompta. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that your parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.

Accounts are for individual use only. You may not share your account or create accounts on behalf of others.

Prompta provides one new story puzzle per day. Each registered user may play that story once. Words you submit are scored by an AI model (Claude Haiku by Anthropic) based on how well they fit a hidden story ending.

AI scoring disclaimer: Scores are generated by an AI and reflect the model's judgment at the time of submission. Scores are not a measure of your writing ability or vocabulary. We make no guarantee that any particular word will receive any particular score. Scores are final once submitted and cannot be appealed.

You agree not to:

• Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to submit words or probe the scoring API
• Attempt to extract the hidden story template or secret ending before completing the game
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or reproduce any part of the service
• Create multiple accounts to circumvent the one-game-per-day limit
• Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose

Violation of these rules may result in immediate account suspension without refund.

All stories, prompts, story endings, and game mechanics are owned by Prompta and protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, publish, or distribute them without written permission.

The words you submit while playing remain yours. By submitting them, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use them in aggregate and anonymized form to improve scoring accuracy and understand gameplay patterns. We will never publish your specific words attributed to you without your consent.

Prompta may offer a paid premium tier with additional features (ad-free experience, archive access, etc.). If you subscribe:

• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled
• You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the billing period
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact us within 7 days of a charge if you believe it was in error
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers

Prompta is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated scores will meet your expectations. We are not responsible for any story being unavailable on a given day.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Prompta and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10, whichever is greater.

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these terms or if we believe your account poses a risk to the service or other users. We will make reasonable effort to notify you, except where doing so would cause harm or is not required by law.

You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed per our Privacy Policy.

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Prompta operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
